VT2-Twin-EQ-Std-Bass
VT2-Twin-EQ-Std-Bass Valve Pre-amp/Overdrive
The VT2-Twin-EQ-Std-Bass from DHA is a hand built valve pre-amp/Overdrive effects pedal which uses 2 12AX7 (ECC83) pre amp valves to provide true valve tone, the tone generated has to be heard to be believed! The VT2-Twin-EQ-Std-Bass is suited to bass players looking for subtle clean to over the top overdrive valve tone for all types of music. This model in our VT2 range is a true twin channel pre-amp with a 3 band active EQ per channel plus an XLR balanced DI out.
There are 2 separate channels, red and blue.
The Blue channel provides clean to crunch tones and the Red channel is clean to insane overdrive.
The two 12AX7EH valves stick out the top of the pedal and one has a green back light to show when the effect is on and the other has a red or blue back light to show which channel is selected.
The Blue channel has Gain, Level, Treble, Mid and Bass controls plus bright and boost switches. The amount of clean boost is adjustable with a pre-set inside the pedal. The EQ is active and provides a 15dB cut and boost in each band.
The Red channel has Gain, Overdrive, Level, Treble, Mid and Bass, Colour controls plus bright and boost switches The amount of clean boost is adjustable with a pre-set inside the pedal. The EQ is active and provides a 15dB cut and boost in each band.
There is a XLR balanced DI out with a 3 position ground lift switch, GND, Float and Ploat. There is an i/p control which sets the level into the effect and it is connected to both the Red and Blue channels. The instrument is connected via a standard 1/4" jack and there is also a 1/4" jack out.
The VT2-Twin-EQ-Std-Bass sounds great when plugged directly into a desk or a digital recording setup via the low noise XLR balanced DI output. It is also designed to overdrive a valve amp and add valve tone to a solid state amp.
The Gain, Overdrive and Level controls let you select that tone you been looking for! And don't forget the volume and tone on your bass which will react well with the VT2-Twin-EQ-Std-Bass. The Colour pot on the red channel is a switch pot and adds compression and distortion when selected.
There is a By-Pass Foot Switch which is used to select the Overdrive and EQ part of the circuit but the DI, headphone remains on all the time. This means you can use the VT2-Twin-EQ-Std-Bsss to DI your other effects or just the bass with or without adding the VT2's valve warmth.
The tone is pure valve/tube, fat and warm and completely different to silicon effects pedals which tend to fizz and compress the signal. Unlike silicon pedals you can use the volume control on your bass to control the amount of distortion you want, just turn it up for the solo.
The output of the VT2-Twin-EQ-Std-Bass is connected to a standard 1/4" jack for use with an amp and an XLR balanced DI connector which is in parallel. This means both outputs can be connected at the same time, so the 1/4" might go to the amp for the stage back line and the DI to the PA or desk. The DI is also intended for studio recording as the pedal is a real valve/tube pre-amp so will add warmth to any set up. There is a DI ground lift switch which is useful if a ground loop hum occurs.
The VT2-Twin-EQ-Std runs from a 9-12VDC 700mA (12VDC 1200mA recommended) supply via a standard 2.1mm socket. A 12VDC @1200mA power supply is provided free if the pedal is ordered from this web site. The VT2-Twin-EQ-Std-Bass is totally hand built using a quality PCB, even the box is hand painted and marked. There is a one year return to manufacturer guarantee which covers parts and labour in case of failure with each unit. There is also a user manual.
